When the game came out it’s install was 120gb when compressed, and then reached around 170 after installation. The amount of detail, the size of the maps, and most importantly in this case, the efficiency of the coding determine why a game can be so large. It is impressively large, but honestly I have a feeling this will be the trend as time goes on. Is there ANY way at all that i can bring down the size of this game so i can launch the actual game? I dont get why i should get a disadvantage compared to alle the free players when i actually paid money for the game? Now i cant even play the game. Why am i not able to ONLY install Warzone, just because i bought the actual game and have an existing account? I dont play multiplayer anymore and i dont play singleplayer after completing the campaign. I ONLY have Windows and CoD installed on my PC, and i have even uninstalled some of the windows apps etc.

So CoD Warzone came out after i uninstalled the game - but because i already owned the game i could'nt just DL Warzone - i had to download the whole game in order for me to use my old account.Īfter the latest update (which is bigger than all of my friends because they only have Warzone and therefore dont have to update multiplayer) i can't even launch the game because my 240 GB SSD is not big enough to have the whole game installed. Season 4 just dropped which is another 46GB update and will increase the game by another 4GB. Call of Duty now has a whole 256GB SSD for itself. Yes drive prices have come down so it's likely I'll need to get a bigger drive but it still is somewhat mad that a game now is almost as big as an entire drive.ĮDIT 3: I eventually bit the bullet and just bought a 1TB NVME. there has to be some consideration for what the player base are currently running which may very well be 2018 spec's. It is like graphics cards, developers can't just target RTX2080Ti's. I do understand in 2020 250GB is on the low side but many have drives from previous builds or are still gaming on slightly older machines. As someone said in the comments below, the updater does update files as it is coming down so the game size didn't really increase by much.

I don't think I can even get the update because with Windows 10 and Call of Duty my SSD is maxed out.ĮDIT 2: I completed the update.
